NEW YORK, March 6, 2018 — Lightstone, a national real estate investor/developer, announced today the topping out of construction at a 349-key Moxy hotel on West 28th Street in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. The hotel is the second of four Moxy hotels Lightstone is developing in New York City in partnership with Marriott. Lightstone broke ground on Moxy Chelsea in summer of 2016, and the hotel is set to open this fall.

Moxy Chelsea comes on the heels of the highly successful opening of the 612-key flagship Moxy Times Square hotel, which opened its doors to travelers in fall 2017. Moxy Times Square has quickly established itself as the premier hotel for modern travelers to New York City. In addition to its bold, modern approach, the property's world class eating and drinking destinations, including NYC's largest all-season hotel rooftop bar, attract packed houses of tourists and New Yorkers alike.

Soaring 37 stories high into the New York City skyline, the 349-room Moxy Chelsea is a unique collaboration by designers Yabu Pushelberg and Rockwell Group. Taking cues from the nearby flower district, the hotel features a romantic and botanically-inspired design with a modern embrace. This stylish and affordable micro-room, macro-amenity lifestyle hotel features: a lively indoor/outdoor Italian restaurant with authentic Roman flair; a pasticceria and café; and a communal lobby bar and lounge complete with meeting studios, co-working space, and a Winter garden. Topping off the hotel is a glass-enclosed rooftop bar and lounge with a retractable roof featuring views of the Empire State Building and New York City skyline.

Energized and socially-activated public spaces are an essential part of Moxy's DNA as a bold and affordable lifestyle hotel with smartly designed and technologically savvy rooms. Strategically catered to the needs and preferences of today's travelers, Moxy is an affordable and accessible option with the soul of a boutique hotel.

"Home to some of the city's most prominent restaurants and landmarks, Chelsea is the perfect neighborhood for the newest Moxy with its ideal location for both business and leisure travelers alike," said Lightstone President Mitchell Hochberg. "After the overwhelming success of Moxy Times Square, we're eager to open the doors of Moxy Chelsea and bring another unique alternative for today's modern travelers seeking something different."

Moxy Chelsea will incorporate the essence and energy of its sister property at Moxy Times Square while offering a distinct vibe, personality, and design approach specific to its Chelsea location.

In addition to Moxy Chelsea and Moxy Times Square, Lightstone has two other Moxy hotels currently under development in New York City, totaling approximately 1,500-keys. Nationally, Lightstone is developing seven Moxy properties in total, with additional properties in South Beach, Miami, as well as downtown Los Angeles and West Hollywood.
