NASHVILLE, TN (July 19, 2016) – Nashville's highly anticipated new hotel, The Westin Nashville, is taking the city's thriving dining scene to new heights this Fall with the appointments of Executive Chef Jacob Strang and Executive Sous Chef Mark Vuchovich. Bringing with them a combined 30 years’ experience, the culinary dynamic duo behind award-winning New American restaurant, 1808 Grille, will join forces once again to spearhead The Westin Nashville's much buzzed about dining destinations: the city's highest rooftop bar, L27, a casual yet sophisticated restaurant and lounge featuring a pool deck, cabanas and an eclectic craft beverage menu, as well as classic American eatery, Decker & Dyer, which invites guests to take a seat at the 15-foot bar and enjoy original black-and-white country music videos projected on a special glass wall, an ode to the city's rich music culture.

“We are delighted to welcome Executive Chef Jacob Strang and Sous Chef Mark Vuchovich to our team at The Westin Nashville,” said Ray Waters, General Manager. “Their unique blend of culinary styles combined with an unparalleled knowledge of the city’s dining scene will perfectly complement our mission of connecting guests to the local community and highlighting Nashville’s originality.”

Originally from Attica, New York, Chef Strang got his first taste of Nashville's culinary landscape opening hotspot dining destination, 1808 Grille, where he collaborated with Chef Charles Phillips on everything from the menu to the overall design of the original restaurant concept. He went on to become Executive Chef at Frescos and The Chadwick in Pennsylvania, where he was responsible for streamlining overall restaurant and beverage operations, as well as more than 10,000 square feet of banquet space, before returning to 1808 Grille as Executive Chef in 2014. A silver medalist at the Music City ACF Competition and Host Chef for the James Beard “Celebrity Chef Tour”, Chef Strang began his culinary career as Sous Chef at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club and Schermerhorn Symphony Center in North Carolina.

Sous Chef Vuchovich comes to The Westin Nashville with an impressive background in the culinary world, having most recently served as Executive Sous Chef at The Hutton Hotel. A native of Indiana, Pennsylvania, he started his career as Chef de Cuisine at the Pinehurst Resort and the Ritz Carlton Resorts of Naples, before moving on to Club Chef at the Inn at Palmetto Bluff. Gaining valuable experience and a visionary culinary approach, Chef Vuchovich went on to become Executive Sous Chef at upscale restaurant Avenue 5 before landing in Nashville.
