InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile (505 N. Michigan Ave.) is pleased to announce the appointment of Markus Krebs as Hotel Manager and the promotion of longtime team member Michael Locke to Director of Sales.

Bringing nearly 20 years of experience in hotel and food and beverage management, Markus Krebs oversees the day-to-day management of hotel operations for the historic hotel along Chicago’s famed Michigan Avenue. Prior to joining InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, Krebs served as the General Manager at Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort and Spa in Thailand. Krebs also previously served as the Director of Food and Beverage at the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City.

Krebs received a Bachelors of Hotel and Catering Management at Hotelfachschule Eckert in Regenstauf, Germany where he graduated with honors. Upon graduating, he began his career as the Associate Director of Catering at The Beverly Hilton Hotel where he was responsible for catering of entertainment fundraisers and award shows, a majority of them being televised, including the Golden Globe Awards. Krebs has gone on to serve in various hotel and food and beverage management roles at resorts across the globe such as the Rebranding General Manager at the Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa in Mozambique, the Hotel Manager at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, Director of Food and Beverage at The Fairmont Orchid in Hawaii and the Director of Food and Beverage at Raffles L’Ermitage in Beverly Hills.

Michael Locke has been a team member of the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile for more than 16 years in various sales roles for the hotel and was recently promoted to Director of Sales, responsible for overseeing all group bookings for the property.

Locke began his career with the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile as an Assistant Manager at the Front Desk and has put his passion for the industry and customer service-centric philosophy to work moving up to Sales Manager, Senior Sales Manager, National Accounts Director and most recently into his current position as Director of Sales. Prior to joining the InterContinental team, Locke also worked with The Westin Copley Place in Boston, Massachusetts and The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Locke received his Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management from Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island.
