The newest chapter in the legendary history of Ingleside Inn & Melvyn’s Restaurant begins as the Palm Springs Historic Landmark debuts its elevated refresh following a property-wide revitalization and restoration project. Equal parts past and present day, and infused with modern touchpoints, the 30-room Inn offers a luxurious, quiet respite located where the San Jacinto Mountains meet the heart of Palm Springs.

“Being one of Palm Springs’ first resort-style escapes, Ingleside Inn has embodied elegant Hollywood glamour since its early days, and we wanted to honor its authenticity and splendor while elevating the guest experience,” says Hilary Newsom, president and partner, PlumpJack Group. “Melvyn’s Restaurant has been an integral part of the local community for more than 40 years. We’re here to preserve its essence, carry on its legacy, and ensure Melvyn’s remains a destination for both locals and visitors for the next 40 years and beyond.”

The redesign and restoration brought the Inn back to its original Spanish Colonial Revival design and layered it with contemporary takes on historic elements.

Each of the Inn’s 30 rooms and suites has its own distinct layout and individual charm. Most guest rooms include either private outdoor patios, separate living spaces complete with sofas or fireplaces retrofitted with decorative tiles in a vibrant color pattern.

The renovation took care to restore many of the historic elements of the celebrated Melvyn’s Restaurant in order to maintain its integrity for the future. The spirit of the restoration was to keep its liveliness and energy and preserve the memory and characteristic of the renowned establishment. Among noteworthy updates are the bar – refurbished to its original pink-tufted bar with brass nailhead accents, and the restored installation of the late Melvyn Haber’s Wall of Fame featuring photographs of the famous guests and notable moments of the illustrious Inn and restaurant.

While keeping classics such as Steak Diane, Oysters Rockefeller and Veal Ingleside, as well as tableside service in the main dining room for which Melvyn’s Restaurant is known, Executive Chef Jennifer Town has added her own take on classic recipes by incorporating premium ingredients. Chef Town has also developed a bar menu with small bites to pair with the bar’s extensive beer, wine and cocktail offerings.

A focal point of Ingleside Inn is its pool area and lush landscaping, refreshed to inspire relaxation, with the majestic San Jacinto Mountains as a backdrop.  Casual seating is scattered throughout the one-acre, well-manicured grounds from the courtyard and fire pit to the veranda.
