New Networking Space and Google Glass Demonstrations Among Highlights

October 10, 2014 – NEW YORK — Addressing one of the fastest evolving segments in hospitality, the International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show’s (IHMRS) Technology Division will offer a unique mix of resources and timely education when staged Sunday, November 9, through Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Hospitality Technology, one of five IHMRS exhibit divisions, allows hotel and restaurant owners and operators to explore the latest innovations in tablet and mobile apps, security and safety, in-room entertainment, property management and POS software, telecom, energy management, CRM, social media, revenue management and more.

IHMRS technology exhibitors include: Hotel Technologies, Agilysys, Bulk TV & Internet, NEC, Yelp, Samsung, Duetto, Northwind, Silverware POS, InnRoad, Evolve, Time Warner Business Cable, Vingcard, Room Key PMS, HD Golf, MICROS Retail Systems, Kaba Ilco Saflok, VTech Communications and SkyTouch Technology.

The exclusive I.MENU EXPO, curated in partnership with i.Business Magazine, returns to IHMRS 2014, and will provide tech decision-makers the opportunity to sample a broad range of tablet apps and other software for front- and back-of-the-house operations from 20 suppliers.

New this year is the specially designed 2,400 square foot networking space and “community hub” for tech executives attending IHMRS. The golf simulator-equipped and Pebble Beach, St. Andrews themed Swingers Lounge is located in Booth 3167 and is sponsored by HD Golf, Valore LLC, Kathryn McCoy Design, Harlan Graphics and Lampolite.

Attendees will also be offered the opportunity to demo Google Glass, the so called “ubiquitous computer” device with an optical head-mounted display that can be integrated to mobile and other computing devices, and can be operated hands-free using voice commands. Dr. Ajay ‘AJ’ Aluri, Assistant Professor West Virginia University College of Business and Economics, who was selected to participate in Google Glass program and has started exploring Glass and its impact on the hospitality industry, will be offering demonstrations from Booth 3155.

Educational sessions focused on Technology will also be held on November 9-10, and will include topics ranging from data breach prevention to leveraging social media’s benefits. All sessions are free of charge to IHMRS attendees.

The Technology Division educational agenda concludes with the open-format, interactive presentation, Guests’ Technology Expectations? moderated by Mike Uwe Dickersbach, VP, Information Technology, Thayer Lodging, Brookfield Hotel Properties and features panelists Simon Eng, VP, Information Technology at CTF Development, Inc.; Jeff Parker, VP of Technology, Stout Street Hospitality; Darrin Pinkham, Chief Technology Officer, Highgate Hotels, Inc.; and Naomi Stark, President, Stark Service Solutions.
