Bastrop, Texas – November 16, 2021 – Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa, located on 405 acres of Texas landscape right outside of Austin and near the city of Bastrop, announces Steven Carl as its new director of food and beverage. Carl joins the resort from City of Dreams Manila Resort in Paranaque, Philippines.

“I am thrilled to join the incredible team here at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines” said Steven Carl, director of food and beverage at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa. “I look forward to curating unforgettable dining experiences for our guests that showcase the delicious cuisine here in Central Texas. I am also really excited to be back in the Lone Star State where dining and entertaining is more than just a passion, it’s a lifestyle.  I can’t wait to share Texas BBQ and wine with my team and my neighbors.”

As director of food and beverage, Carl will be responsible for the operations of each of the resort’s on-site restaurants including Stories Fine Dining, Firewheel Café, Shellers Barrelhouse Bar, McDade’s Coffee Emporium & Ice Cream Saloon, and Old Buck’s Place.

Carl has worked with Hyatt Corporation for more than 24 years and has held executive chef and director of food & beverage positions at 11 properties throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean including Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman, Hyatt Regency Miami, and Hyatt Regency Maui.  Carl worked in Central Texas previously as the food and beverage director at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa from 2011 to 2013.

Most recently, Carl spent his time in the Philippines and traveling extensively throughout Southeast Asia. “During my travels I have learned that food and beverage is more global than ever. Many of the ingredients common throughout Asia are easy to incorporate into our cocktail program at the resort and will be surprisingly familiar to our Texas guests,” added Carl. During his time in the Philippines, Carl also owned and operated Grind Bistro and Grind Bistro + Café in Manila.

Carl received his degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI.  He’s also served as a member of Rotary International since 2017.
