NEWPORT, RI (June 5, 2019 ) – Spa Fjor at the historic Hotel Viking, proudly welcomes new Spa Director, Monique Michaud, who will oversee operations of the popular Newport wellness destination. Michaud brings over 30 years of industry experience, working with a variety of luxury brands.

A New England native, Monique Michaud initially studied restaurant management at Johnson & Wales University. After hearing a jingle on the radio for The Elizabeth Grady School of Esthetics, “your face is the first thing the world ever sees,” she was inspired to enroll and immediately excelled. Shortly after finishing at the Elizabeth Grady School, Monique started a job at the Giuliano Day Spa in Boston (now G20 Spa and Salon) and within one year was named Spa Director.

“I am excited to bring my passion for spa and wellness to Spa Fjor. Our talented staff has built a solid reputation of delivering stellar service with our culturally diverse treatment menu. I look forward to furthering the spa’s commitment to wellness and creating unique spa experiences,” said Monique Michaud, Spa Director.

Previously Michaud oversaw spa operations at The Jurlique Spa at The Mayfair Hotel, Spa at the Pines at Lake Arrowhead Resort, The Huntington Spa at the Langham Huntington Pasadena, and most recently The Spa Intercontinental in Boston and The Beach House Spa in Brewster, MA.

Spa Fjor is dedicated to crafting seasonal treatments that utilize vegan and organic products, from edible components like chia and earl grey to all-natural ingredients like Gigartina seaweed sourced straight from the Patagonia Sea. Signature treatments range from the Chia Orange Firming Massage to the “teatox” Earl Grey Ritual with activated charcoal. Michaud plans to incorporate additional services and treatments on the menu this year and also maintain popular services. Spa Fjor is open daily from 8:00am – 8:00pm.
