San Diego, Calif. (June 2, 2023) – Reservations are now live for Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, the global lifestyle brand’s first city-center location on the West Coast. Home to San Diego’s largest rooftop pool deck boasting sprawling city views, live music, flexible meetings and events spaces, and signature amenities, Margaritaville Hotel San Diego will bring fun and escapism to the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Reservations are now available for stays starting August 15, 2023, just in time for hotly anticipated events such as San Diego Comic-Con and summer home games for the San Diego Padres.

“We are thrilled to introduce this beloved, experiential brand to one of the most popular year-round vacation destinations in the country,” said David Meisner, General Manager of Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. “Our singular style of island-inspired hospitality is a natural fit for San Diego, allowing guests to escape the everyday and immerse themselves in the Margaritaville state of mind. We look forward to welcoming travelers and locals alike to our exciting new hotel.”

Following a nearly $30 million top-to-bottom reimagination, Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, presently operating as Hotel Solamar, will reopen its doors as a Margaritaville destination on July 15. With a relaxed Californian ambiance, the hotel’s 235 guest rooms and suites will evoke casual luxury with white shiplap walls, rattan fixtures and cheerful hues that mimic the sea, sand, and sky. Nine flexible event venues will offer 6,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, in addition to 7,000 outdoor square feet on the expansive rooftop pool deck. The exterior boasts two vibrant, hand painted murals that span the sides of the 10-story building, signaling far and wide that Margaritaville has arrived in San Diego.

Award-winning firm Dawson Design Associates was charged with introducing Margaritaville to the city of San Diego, infusing the brand’s signature island visuals with a distinctly Californian sensibility. Influenced by Jimmy Buffett’s days in the artistic enclave of Laurel Canyon, Margaritaville Hotel San Diego is introducing a new “Summer of Love” with art and décor that echo the Golden State in the 1960’s, including Andy Warhol-esque portraits and murals of Volkswagen buses stacked with colorful surfboards. Guest rooms and suites are elevated yet playful, delivering a vintage beach bungalow aesthetic with authentic surfboards hung on the walls alongside eye-catching, tropical accents. Utilizing raw materials like stucco and concrete, custom hand-made furnishings from reclaimed wood and creative works from Mexican artists, the hotel is evocative of Baja unlike any other Margaritaville property, with a Mission style that is true to the spirit of Southern California.

Margaritaville Hotel San Diego will be home to three distinct dining concepts. From its perch on the city’s largest rooftop pool deck, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar will offer casual, al fresco dining with classic poolside fare and refreshing cocktails, complemented by live entertainment and stunning views of Petco Park. On the hotel’s ground floor, LandShark Bar & Grill will boast large garage-style doors that open onto the corner of Sixth Avenue and J Street, beckoning passersby with its lively yet laid-back atmosphere and live music performances. Coastal cuisine, craft cocktails, and signature LandShark lagers will anchor the LandShark Bar & Grill menu, while the neighboring Margaritaville Coffee Shop will serve a variety of gourmet coffee drinks and grab-and-go bites.

Located in the heart of the historic Gaslamp Quarter, Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is within walking distance of some of the city’s top attractions, including Petco Park, the San Diego Convention Center, and the USS Midway Museum. The hotel is also just a short drive from the city’s world-renowned beaches, golf courses, public parks, and other attractions.
