(VENICE, CA – April 23, 2019) California’s quintessential “Venice” hotel is pleased to welcome the experienced Paola Moreno as the director of food and beverage program at Hotel Erwin, which includes High Rooftop Lounge, the new Erwin’s Kitchen & Cocktails, as well as all events, catering and room service.

As the director of food and beverage, Paola is responsible for managing the daily operations of all outlets, including each of the hotel’s unique events, maintaining service standards to go above and beyond customer needs and integrating new trends into food and beverage programming.

Paola's hospitality path began over 15 years ago upon earning a degree from INACAP’s institute for hospitality and tourism in Santiago, Chile. Starting as an assistant restaurant manager for the luxury Hotel Sofitel in Miami, Paola later moved to manage the restaurants at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Miami, which eventually led her to the Crowne Plaza Resort in South Carolina in 2004. In 2008, she returned to Chile to develop and oversee a new food and beverage staff at The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago, Chile. Two years later, Paola was appointed to open the brand-new Mr. C Hotel in Beverly Hills, and has since assisted the director of food and beverage at Viceroy Santa Monica and Omni Los Angeles. Her most recent position was food and beverage manager at Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica.

The hotel recently debuted an easy-going new restaurant concept, Erwin’s Kitchen & Cocktails, open in April 2019. The coastal restaurant offers approachable beach-fare, pressed juice cocktails, an outdoor patio and Instagrammable dishes reflecting iconic Venice Beach culture. The restaurant is named after the hotel’s namesake legend, Erwin Sokol – a boardwalk staple since 1975 upon the opening of Hotel Erwin. The hotel will also debut renovations to High Rooftop Lounge, as well as a new by-the-slice pizza concept for guests and beach-goers in spring 2019.

“This is an incredible moment to be joining the exceptional culinary team at Hotel Erwin,” said Paola. “As they launch new and exciting renovations, the team and I are dedicated to creating tone-of-a-kind, southern California-inspired food and beverage experiences to each unique group passing through Hotel Erwin, in addition to servicing our everyday visitors and Venice neighbors.”

About Hotel Erwin

Never normal. Always Venice.

In 1975, Erwin Sokol created not only a fixture of the neighborhood, but an embodiment of Venice itself. Today, backed by the Venice Boardwalk, Muscle Beach, the Venice Canals, Rose Avenue dining experiences and the celebrated shopping of Abbot Kinney, Hotel Erwin is the choice for surf culture icons, interested business travelers, and families looking for an authentic and exciting Los Angeles experience. Remodeled in 2017 by Co-Mingle’s Sally Breer, each of its 33 suites and 86 guest rooms recall a 70’s bohemian vibe while bringing a modern sensibility to the hotel. The unmistakably Venice Beach experience is spirited by local collaborations that include customized Sole Bicycles, access to the original Gold’s Gym, and in-rooms snacks and goods curated by Whole Foods Venice Beach. For prime views and rooftop fun, Hotel Erwin’s High Rooftop Lounge has no rival on the Westside, and the hotel’s first floor restaurant Erwin’s Kitchen & Cocktails offers a menu of locally inspired dishes. Larry's Loft, named after art icon Larry Bell, provides ideal space for business meetings, movie screenings, and modern cocktail receptions, while the Red Bull Dogtown Suite hosts a branded DJ booth, murphy bed, branded balcony and signature art. Over 150 art pieces curated by Larry Bell line the hallways, rooms, and social spaces. A landmark for seaside beauty, urban energy, and creative expression, Hotel Erwin continues its run as a landmark of counterculture and down-to-earth approachability.
