New York, NY (November 21, 2016) – Helm Equities announced a partnership with 21c Museum Hotels that will bring the award-winning boutique hotel and contemporary art museum to HELM Miami, a mixed-use development project in Miami’s coveted Design District; the heart of Miami’s art, fashion, and design communities.

21c Museum Hotel will serve as a focal point for HELM Miami, a destination that will include a sculpture garden, expansive green space and more than 325,000 square feet of interior space featuring shops, restaurants, and collaborative workspace for those in art, fashion, design, and other creative industries. The property will also offer on-site parking for visitors, guests, and tenants.

21c Museum Hotel will bring a new kind of cultural and travel experience to the Design District with innovative contemporary art and genuine hospitality. A destination that welcomes both locals and travelers from around the world, 21c’s design program includes a contemporary art museum open free of charge to the public. The museum will feature rotating exhibitions curated primarily from the 21c collection which includes painting, sculpture, photography, film, performance, video and digital art. The collection features works by both emerging and established artists from all over the world, reflecting the global nature of contemporary culture. The property will also feature large-scale and often interactive permanent installations in unexpected locations, surrounding visitors with art and ideas. 21c will offer a variety of cultural programs that are free and open to the public including artist lectures, live performances, film screenings and poetry readings. The property will also include a boutique hotel with approximately 135 rooms, a rooftop pool terrace, bar and lounge, and art-filled meeting and event spaces. A chef-driven food and beverage concept showcasing local and regional farmers and producers is also planned. New York-based architecture and interior design firm Deborah Berke Partners will lead the design team. This will be the firm’s tenth 21c Museum Hotel project since designing the company’s first property in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, in 2006.

HELM Miami sits on two acres of land and was acquired by Ayal Horovits and David Escava of Helm Equities in 2014. HELM Miami is the largest undeveloped parcel in the highly sought after Miami Design District, a neighborhood dedicated to innovative fashion, design, architecture and dining experiences. A hub of Miami’s arts and culture, the Design District includes art galleries, the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, the De La Cruz Collection Contemporary Art Space, Locust Projects, and other cultural centers.

“We’re excited to work with 21c in creating this destination in the Design District,” said Ayal Horovits, one of the founding partners at Helm Equities. “Tremendous thought went into identifying a hotel brand that fuses art, fashion, entertainment, and hospitality all under one roof and that will build upon the exciting and dynamic growth and activity we’re seeing in the district. The brand will bring spectacular life and excitement to the property and will complement the type of retail and office tenants targeted for the balance of the project.”

“The Miami Design District is one of today’s most exciting and creative urban developments,” said Steve Wilson, CEO of 21c Museum Hotels. “The focus on contemporary art, design and culture is an excellent fit for our brand. We look forward to connecting with the local community, contributing to the cultural life of the Design District and hope to attract other forward thinking companies to HELM Miami.”

About 21c Museum Hotels

21c Museum Hotels, an award-winning hospitality company based in Louisville, Kentucky, is pushing the boundaries of both the museum and hotel worlds to create a new kind of travel experience. The company was founded as a single property by contemporary art collectors and preservationists Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, whose mission was to share innovative contemporary art with the public and participate in the revitalization of downtown Louisville. The couple opened the first 21c in 2006 along downtown’s West Main Street, rehabilitating a series of 19th century warehouses to create a union of genuine hospitality, thoughtful design and culinary creativity — all anchored by a contemporary art museum with thought-provoking exhibitions, interactive site-specific art installations and a full roster of cultural programming. Today, 21c operates six museum hotels in Louisville, Kentucky; Cincinnati, Ohio; Bentonville, Arkansas; Durham, North Carolina; Lexington, Kentucky and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 21c Nashville is currently under construction. Projects are under development in Kansas City, Missouri and Indianapolis, Indiana. The company is equally focused on creating unique, chef-driven restaurants that are as much a part of the community as the hotel. 21c operates a diverse portfolio of restaurants including Proof on Main at 21c Louisville, Metropole at 21c Cincinnati, The Hive at 21c Bentonville, Counting House at 21c Durham, Lockbox at 21c Lexington, Mary Eddy’s Kitchen x Lounge at 21c Oklahoma City, and Garage Bar in Louisville, Kentucky.
