Exeter, New Hampshire (February 26, 2018) Hay Creek Hotels announced today that it has been selected to manage the iconic Chebeague Island Inn off the coast of Portland, Maine.

Set in the heart of Casco Bay on picturesque Chebeague Island, the elegant 21-room Greek revival-style Inn serves as an idyllic shoreline getaway for travelers and locals alike who are seeking to relax and unwind. Offering full service accommodations and dining on a seasonal basis, the Inn has welcomed generations of vacationers to the coastal beauty of Casco Bay since the 1880s and holds a special place in the hearts of Maine residents thanks to its rich history, unplugged nature and family ties.

Hay Creek Hotels has teamed with Prentice Hospitality Group to continue the stewardship of the Inn. “Chebeague Island Inn is more than a hotel for my family and me—it’s an extension of us, and over the years has become our second home,” said Casey Prentice, President of Prentice Hospitality Group who has owned the Inn since 2010. “We’ve had a personal, hands-on experience shaping the Inn into the exceptional property it is today and are thrilled to have Hay Creek Hotels join us in elevating the guest experience to a new level, while taking special care to maintain the classic Maine hospitality our loyal guests have come to expect.”

Norman MacLeod, President & CEO of Hay Creek noted, “Having summered in Maine for most of my life, and now as a resident, I fully understand the special nature of the Island and the Inn. Hay Creek will continue to nurture that feeling for our guests while working with the Prentice Organization to shape and celebrate the Inn’s next chapter.” He added, “The Inn complements and adds a positive synergy to our existing properties in Brunswick and Kennebunkport.”

The Chebeague Island Inn is accessible by ferry from Portland and Yarmouth from May through October. An icon of classic Maine hospitality, the Inn offers 21 guest rooms, each individually designed with furnishings by local artists and artisans and a full-service restaurant with a thoughtful and responsible approach to preparing menus. Highlights include fresh caught lobster, renowned Bangs Island Mussels and farm fresh produce from Chebeague Island’s own Second Wind Farm. The Inn is also a popular destination for weddings, family gatherings and social events and offers a wide range of activities for guests, including tennis, swimming, golf, biking or boating from the Inn’s private moorings.
