March 12, 2019 12:29pm
Gabor L. Vida has been appointed managing director of Rosewood Washington, D.C., the luxurious urban retreat located in the heart of Georgetown. In this role, which he assumed in late 2018, Vida oversees and leads all aspects of Rosewood Washington, D.C. and its distinct dining and recreational venues. Ideally situated alongside the C&O Canal, the landmark property will reopen this Spring following a partial renovation and redesign that includes the addition of new public spaces and a new restaurant, CUT by Wolfgang Puck. The renovation will also introduce six neighboring townhouses to the property’s room inventory later this year.
Vida joins Rosewood Washington, D.C. with over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including eight with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Most recently, Vida served as the managing director of Rosewood Washington, D.C.’s sister property, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Previously, he held the same role at Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, California, where he helped the hotel earn several impressive accolades, including a coveted Five-Star Rating from Forbes Travel Guide. His time with the Rosewood brand began at Rosewood London as director of operations.
Outside of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Vida has held leadership positions with many of the most renowned hospitality companies worldwide including The Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Raffles Hotels & Resorts and Crystal Cruises. He graduated from Stratford University with a degree in Hospitality Management and also completed an Executive Leadership Program in Hospitality Administration/Management at Cornell University.
“Gabor has been an integral part of the Rosewood team for nearly a decade and is the perfect fit to lead the newly imagined Rosewood Washington, D.C. upon its reopening this Spring,” said Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. “We are eagerly anticipating the next chapter of this historic hotel and are confident that with Gabor’s extensive experience and expertise, it will quickly reestablish itself as the city’s premier property.”
