Signs with Latina Promohoteles to Develop Up to 55 New Hotel 6/Estudio 6 Across Mexico by 2021
DALLAS, Dec. 10, 2014 -- G6 Hospitality, known for its iconic economy lodging brands, Motel 6 and Studio 6 in the U.S. and Canada, announced today it is expanding its portfolio to include two new brands in Latin America: Hotel 6 and Estudio 6.
As part of the company's plan to bring the brands to market, G6 Hospitality announced the signing of an area development agreement with Latina Promohoteles, a subsidiary of commercial property developer Promodesa Comercial, which is based in Mexico. Latina Promohoteles plans to open up to 55 new-construction Hotel 6/Estudio 6 properties by the end of 2020 in major cities across Mexico.
"This expansion marks an important time for G6 Hospitality and our brands," said Jim Amorosia, President and CEO of G6 Hospitality. "Our Hotel 6 and Estudio 6 operations were designed to suit the specific needs of travelers in Latin America. Combined with the expertise of our partners at Promodesa, we are uniquely positioned to successfully launch a compelling new lodging option to travelers in Mexico."
Each new property will showcase elements of the "Phoenix" room design featured at Motel 6 and Studio 6 properties in the U.S. and Canada. Some of the unique features of the rooms include wood-effect flooring, platform beds and flat screen TVs, offering areas that are highly functional, space-efficient and with a modern decor that provides extra comfort for budget-conscious travelers. Hotel 6 and Estudio 6 rooms will also offer unique amenities to respond to the needs of the Latin American markets.
Promodesa Comercial, parent company of Latina Promohoteles, is a leading company in Mexico dedicated to the conceptualization, planning, consulting and marketing of mixed use and shopping centers. The company has developed and marketed more than 220 developments within and outside of Mexico including community centers, neighborhood centers, lifestyle centers, regional malls and power centers among many others.
"We are thrilled to partner with G6 Hospitality and introduce such iconic American brands and lodging options in Mexico," said Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Vice President of Latina Promohoteles. "Lodging is a new focus area for our business, and we see great potential for translating the success of brands like Motel 6 and Studio 6 in the U.S. to the unique needs of Latin American travelers."
In 2014, G6 Hospitality has opened more than 110 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, growing its portfolio of hotels to more than 1,200 properties. With its expansive network, ambitious renovation efforts, and the longstanding appeal of its Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, G6 Hospitality is the leader of the economy lodging segment in the U.S. and Canada.
