El Conquistador Tucson, A Hilton Resort, in Tucson, Ariz., has named Michael K. Platt the new General Manager of its 428-room resort that just completed the largest renovation in its 35-year history.

Bringing more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry to the El Conquistador team, he most recently was the general manager of the four-star, four-diamond Royal Park Hotel, in Rochester, Mich. when it received WorldHotels’ award for “Best Experience Creator” for the third consecutive year, the only American hotel in the more than 500 WorldHotels international and luxury portfolio to receive this honor, as well as recognition for improved revenue management.

Born in Zimbabwe and fluent in three languages, Platt’s passion for travel and education has led him to a variety of luxury brands with general manager positions at Arista Hotel (Chicago, Ill.), Viceroy Hotel Santa Monica and Hilton Long Beach (Calif.), and El San Juan Hotel & Casino in Puerto Rico, the first Waldorf Astoria Collection property and the first casino resort in the world to carry the Waldorf Astoria flag.

When he is not working, this new Tucson local can be found watching F-1 racing or walking his three French bulldogs.
