Eight of the World’s Hippest Hotels
April 28, 2014 5:17am
Whether your definition of "hip" includes locavore cuisine, avant-garde art and design or the hottest new technogadgets, TrustYou's list of the world's hippest hotels has got you covered. Each of these bastions of cool has that elusive quality that makes them instantly recognizable to those in the know. Read on for a sampling of the best places to see and be seen.
King and Grove (New York City, USA) Located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn - arguably the hipster capital of the world - King and Grove's 1970s-inspired minimalism makes it a suitable refuge for visitors exploring the area's vintage boutiques, restaurants and music venues.
TrustScore: 78 (Good)
Michelberger Hotel (Berlin, Germany) Located in the trendy Friedrichshain neighborhood of Berlin, this budget hotel has turned a former warehouse into a hotspot for the young and hip. The property's lobby is strewn with comfy couches, books and magazines, and guests seeking a place to gather can plan a private dinner in the wood-paneled Whiskey Room - accessible via a secret door.
TrustScore: 87 (Excellent)
Rosewood Sand Hill (Menlo Park, CA, USA) Located in California's famed Silicon Valley, the luxury Rosewood Sand Hill may be the very best place to rub elbows with the Technorati - and connect with venture capitalists eager to throw their cash behind the next big thing.
TrustScore: 85 (Very Good)
The Jane Hotel (New York City, USA) Originally a hotel for sailors, this New York City Landmark is home to the Jane Ballroom, one of the city's most exclusive nightclubs. Even if you don't make it past the red velvet rope, you can soak up the property's old-world vibes as a hotel guest. Among the offerings: accommodations inspired by the tiny train sleeper cars in the 2007 film "The Darjeeling Limited."
TrustScore: 77 (Good)
Conscious Hotel Museum Square (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) This modern eco-friendly hotel in Amsterdam's museum district includes a lobby wall covered floor-to-ceiling with live green plants. With sustainable features like in-room desks made of recycled yogurt containers, the property combines environmental consciousness with understated cool.
TrustScore: 81 (Very Good)
Hotel Des Arts (San Francisco, USA) The aptly named Hotel Des Arts features rooms designed by some of the world's top emerging artists, among them Shepard Fairey, the artist behind those far flung "Andre the Giant Has a Posse" stickers and the iconic (and controversial) Barack Obama "Hope" posters.
TrustScore: 76 (Good)
Hotel FABRIC (Paris, France) Located in Paris's Canal St-Martin neighborhood, Hotel FABRIC's theme is inspired by the building's former life as a textile factory. Featuring reclaimed furniture and décor reminiscent of a vintage cabaret, the property exudes authenticity and urban cool.
TrustScore: 92 (Excellent)
ACME Hotel Company (Chicago, USA) Targeted to hipsters and technophiles alike, Chicago's ACME Hotel Company has lava lamps in the lobby and album covers covering the elevator walls. Visitors can stream their own movies to in-room LED TVs and even check out Google Glass free at the front desk.

It is ridiculous that five of the ‘world’s hippest hotels’ would be in the US. If you had done a little more research, I am certain you could have come up with some other countries, such as Italy and Spain, where some of the design hotels are outstanding.
