New Property to Open in August on University Campus

College Station, Texas, July 2018 … The new Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center (www.TexasAMHotelCC.com) will open in August with an exceptional new credential: membership in IACC, the exclusive International Association of Conference Centres. With this prestigious certification, the hotel joins an elite group of more than 300 first rate, certified meeting venues in 23 countries. The recognized thought leader of the meetings industry, IACC is the sole international association representing small-to-medium-sized venues focused on meetings, training and conferences.

“We are delighted and immensely honored to be opening next month with this very prestigious recognition,” says General Manager Greg Stafford. “Membership in IACC is another mark of meeting excellence for our property as we strive to create the definitive ‘Aggieland Meeting Experience.'”

To achieve IACC certification, members must demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards in design, facilities, services, technology and sustainability, and the new Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center was designed to meet and exceed each of these criteria. Drawing on the extensive resources of one of the world’s great research universities, the new facility offers state-of-the-art built-in technology, a unique interior design, ergonomic furniture and a commitment to sustainability.

The striking, eight-story hotel and conference center is located on the Texas A&M campus. The facilities span 252,500 square feet, with 35,000 square feet of meeting and event space that includes a spacious 8,300 square foot ballroom accommodating up to 1,000 guests. Twenty-two flexible meeting rooms accommodate presentations, board meetings, private dinners and receptions. There are 250 luxury guest rooms and suites.

Under the management of BENCHMARK®, a global hospitality company, the new property will be part of the Benchmark Resorts & Hotels brand. Benchmark is a founding member of IACC and the company remains active in the organization. Benchmark’s CEO Alex Cabañas is the current president of IACC’S Global Board of Directors.

“As a loyal ‘Aggie’ (Texas A&M former student) and committed IACC member, it’s a special privilege for me to help bring IACC’s exceptional services and innovations to my alma mater,” Mr. Cabañas noted. Mark Cooper, IACC’s CEO, commented, “The Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center has demonstrated throughout its planning stages that it is totally committed to delivering the IACC Meetings Experience. By carefully adhering to our global quality standards, Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center will take its place as a venue that planners can confidently trust to look after their important meetings and conferences.”
