Englewood, Colo. – December 5, 2014 – Destination Hotels announces the appointment of Lou Trope as Senior Vice President, Food and Beverage Experiences. In his new role, Trope will provide strategic leadership for the continued evolution of Destination Hotels’ food and beverage concepts, operations, and design and business strategy throughout the portfolio, creating a unique guest experience and associate culture centered on creativity and innovation. Under Trope’s leadership, Destination Hotels plans to operate on a competing level with independent restaurants in local communities, attracting top talent in the market, and appealing to current and future ownership groups, while building on strengths in the event space and creating unique event experiences with a strong sense of place.

Prior to joining the Destination Hotels team, Trope spent 25 years with Marriott International. In his most recent role, Trope served as Vice President, Restaurant, Bar and Event Operations, Global Discipline Leader Global Operations. Trope began his career on the culinary side, rising up to Executive Chef at Marriott’s most notable and significant properties in Maui and Philadelphia. He graduated to Food and Beverage leadership roles and joined the corporate team 10 years ago in food and beverage design and development. During his time with Marriott, Trope traveled globally and experienced culinary cultures all over the world, which he plans to incorporate into his work at Destination Hotels.

Trope serves on the Industry Advisory Board for C.O.R.E (Children of Restaurant Employees), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the families who have children facing serious medical issues. He holds his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University and his Master of Business Administration degree from San Diego State University.
