TUSCALOOSA, AL, April 19, 2018—Charlestowne Hotels proudly welcomes Hotel Indigo Tuscaloosa as the newest addition to the company’s rapidly expanding portfolio. Boasting riverfront views, a rooftop lounge, and close proximity to the University of Alabama, The Indigo Tuscaloosa has, in its first year, made a significant impact in the market as the city’s newest boutique hotel with wide acceptance and support of the municipality and University. The five-story hotel is comprised of 91 guestrooms, Shoals, a lobby restaurant and bar, and The Lookout, a rooftop lounge with sweeping vistas overlooking the Black Warrior River and the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. This facility has over 2,500 square feet of meeting space, including a conference room and indoor lounge, both opening onto an outdoor terrace. The building, built in 2016, has been awarded a LEED Silver certification and features energy efficient engineering and electric car charging stations.

The addition also marks Charlestowne’s first management agreement with a Hotel Indigo flag, the local-centric brand launched by Intercontinental Hotels Group in 2004. “Where the Hotel Indigo brand and Charlestowne intersect is the recognition that curating a quality experience—not just delivering a quality product—is the key to guest loyalty and sustainable hotel performance,” explains President and COO Michael Tall. During the first months of transition, operational efforts will be focused on developing a service protocol and style that emulates the brand’s mission to be reflective of and as individual as its local surroundings.    

From a revenue standpoint, the hotel will greatly benefit from Charlestowne’s extensive experience in university markets—specifically those with a passionate sports fanbase like that of the University of Alabama. The property joins Charlestowne’s growing collection of hotels in university markets: The Abernathy at Clemson University, The Sewanee Inn at Sewanee: University of the South, Inn at Carnall Hall at the University of Arkansas, and The Autumn Inn at Smith College. Coupled with significant university and community outreach, Charlestowne will apply distribution strategies to ensure the property enjoys its full revenue potential.
