July 10–Country Inn and Suites is bringing new light to the town of Fergus Falls in the midst of the loss of several businesses. As of June 11, they were able to complete their renovations transforming what used to be the Best Western into a new and improved Country Inn and Suites.
Among the many new improvements are all of their 96 refurbished rooms spread over their four wings. Each room also has brand new fixtures and furniture, and features USB ports throughout the room in places such as the headboard of the beds and on the room's desk. In the bathrooms, there is brand new tiling that is stylish and up to date, in some of the rooms, the staff was even able to help with its design.
According to general manager Mike Trudeau, it would be difficult to find two rooms within the entire hotel that have the same room layout. This is due to the fact that the complex wasn't built from the ground up as a Country Inn and Suites, but as a different hotel. In fact, the original building has been changed numerous times since its beginning as the Holiday Inn in 1972. Because of this history, the Country Inn and Suites team and contractors had to customize each room's layout.
In addition, the Bigwood Event Center, which is attached to the Country Inn and Suites, was updated with new carpet and woodwork treatments. The walls were also stripped of the old wallpaper and replaced with a fresh coat of paint.
Overall, Country Inn and Suites is highly committed to the town of Fergus Falls and values its local businesses and sense of community. After removing all of the old furniture and fixtures, Country Inn and Suites donated them to local charities and allowed staff to take pieces home. Trudeau hopes that the community will see their commitment to the city having gone through the effort and cost of renovating 96 rooms in seven months. By having this modern and up-to-date facility, Trudeau and his staff hope to draw in more business off the interstate to help the local economy.
