North Bethesda, MD [April 18, 2019] – The sweeping transformation of the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center is delighted to announce the appointment of the new General Manager, David Child to lead the executive team at the 455-guest room hotel overlooking the Rockville corridor. Recognized as a seasoned-industry leader, Child brings a 30-year tenure in hospitality and has built his reputation in Marriott brands throughout the D.C. metropolitan region.

Child who took helm on March 30, 2019 and succeeded former general manager Bob Daley, was most previously the general manager of the Bethesda Marriott. He joined the iconic Mayflower Hotel in 1993, where he spent seven years in both front and back of the house, in various food & beverage and sales management positions.

He then moved to the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in New York as the Director of Food and Beverage and ultimately the Director of Operations. He returned to Washington as the Director of Food and Beverage at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Dupont Circle, rising to the General Manager position. He joined The Ritz-Carlton brand in 2011 as Hotel Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Washington D.C., where he became a cultural ambassador and presenter for The Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center.

Dedicated to serving his community, Child has held leadership roles on the Board of Directors for Boys Town of Washington, D.C., Visit Montgomery and the newly formed Foundation of Hospitality and Restaurant Management, in addition to chairing the Suburban Maryland Business Council for Marriott. He most recently joined Greater Bethesda of Chamber of Commerce. Child graduated from the University of Huddersfield in the UK, with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1991.
