DALLAS, TX (Feb. 27, 2019) – Remington Hotels, a leading hotel management company, this week takes over the management of Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley, owned by Ashford Hospitality Trust. The 9th Remington-managed property in the Bay Area, the acquisition of this hotel strengthens the company’s foothold in the attractive destination and also marks the third large hotel takeover in less than six months. Remington now boasts 88 properties in its collection, with continued evolution forecasted for the year ahead. Next month, Remington celebrates these successes at the 24th annual Leadership Conference with over 350 field and home office leaders and partner sponsors coming together to set the vision for the year ahead.

“The acquisition of this hotel further demonstrates Remington’s position as a constantly growing management company,” says Sloan Dean, chief operating officer at Remington Hotels. “We look forward to celebrating with general managers and directors of sales from all of our managed hotels and the corporate executive team at THE Leadership Conference next week in Costa Mesa. The conference theme this year – ‘Evolve’ – is indicative of the Remington’s impressive progress as we cultivate our collection.”

Since October 2018, Remington has acquired three large hotels, including the newly-constructed Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Midtown Manhattan – uniquely positioned as the only Embassy Suites in the market and representing Remington’s first hotel in New York City – as well as the iconic La Posada de Santa Fe, poised in one of the country’s most prominent, popular and dynamic leisure destinations.

“We will operate our newest hotels as we do all of our properties by consistently delivering outstanding results to our associates, to our guests and to the owners,” says Dean. “Take care of the associates, the associates will take care of the guests, and the rest will take care of itself."

Nestled amongst the redwoods in a unique rolling hill retreat setting just minutes from South San Francisco Bay and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the 178-room Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley is poised in an ideal location for business and leisure travelers alike. The property offers nearly 8,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event and meeting space and innovative California cuisine at Stonehouse Bar and Grill. Remington Hotels has selected William (Billy) Gheen, the company’s 2018 General Manager of the Year, to oversee the Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley. Recently promoted to VP/GM, Gheen also manages the Fremont Marriott Silicon Valley.

“We are excited to grow the Remington portfolio with the acquisition of the Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley,” says Stan Kennedy, senior vice president of operations, Remington. “We welcome the property team to the Remington family and look forward to a seamless transition for our valued guests, all while delivering Remington's five drivers of success at this fantastic hotel.”
