Pioneer of voice command technology for hotel industry to present 15-minute session on the importance of purpose-built solutions for the hospitality environment

SAN JOSE, Calif. – June 14, 2018 – Angie Hospitality, developer of the world’s first enterprise-class, cloud-managed interactive guest room assistant, built specifically for the hospitality environment, announces that its CEO, Ted Helvey, has been selected to present a “Tech Talk” session at HITEC Houston, taking place June 18-21 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The presentation, entitled “Purpose-Built vs. Off-the-Shelf Technology for Hotels,” will take place in HFTP’s booth #1630 on the tradeshow floor on Wednesday, June 20 from 2:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., and will educate hotelier attendees on the critical differences between purpose-built technologies and standard consumer devices that have been adapted for the hotel environment.

“Advanced technologies such as voice and artificial intelligence have seen dramatic adoption trends in the consumer market in recent years,” says Ted Helvey, CEO of Angie Hospitality. “While some of these consumer-grade devices can be a novelty for hotel guests, purpose-built technologies can provide a host of added benefits that are designed to optimize the guest room experience, as well as benefit the hotel staff and optimize operations. I look forward to sharing the specific differences between the two approaches with hoteliers and helping them decide which is best for their properties.”

The 15-minute presentation will cover an array of topics surrounding purpose-built technologies for the hospitality industry, including their differences, available integrations, business models, customer ownership, security, user-friendliness and best practices in choosing the best solutions. The session will also cover consumer electronics that are currently being used in some hotels, such as smart TVs, casting solutions and voice assistants.

“HITEC is renowned for educating hoteliers on best practices, and we’re proud to have been selected to address this important topic with which many have struggled,” continued Helvey. “I look forward to discussing the multiple challenges that hoteliers have today in keeping up with consumer and guest expectations, and how purpose-built technologies can solve these challenges though a thorough understanding of the unique needs of the guest room and entire hotel environment.”
