East Lansing, Mi. – Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners announced today its plan to bring Graduate Hotels to East Lansing, Michigan. The 10-story, 194-room ground-up hotel development will be located on Grand River Avenue at Evergreen Avenue, adjacent to Michigan State University in the heart of downtown East Lansing. Construction will begin in spring 2019 and, once complete in fall 2020, the hotel will open as Graduate East Lansing, part of the Graduate Hotels collection.

Ideally located on Grand River Avenue, the hotel will be steps from Michigan State University's campus, including the MSU Union, and a 10-minute walk from Spartan Stadium. Situated among an array of shops, restaurants and bars, the hotel will offer direct access to downtown East Lansing.

Created for travelers who seek memory-making journeys, Graduate Hotels is a thoughtfully crafted collection of hotels that reside in the most dynamic university-anchored cities across the country. Each property celebrates and commemorates the optimistic energy of its community, while offering an extended retreat to places that often play host to the best days of our lives. There are currently 13 open and operating hotels across the U.S. and an additional 12 under development slated to open by 2020.

“We are thrilled to join the vibrant and growing downtown core of East Lansing and expect the Graduate East Lansing hotel to provide an amenity that is unique to the city and university,” says Eric Hassberger, Chief Operating Officer of AJ Capital Partners. “As an MSU alum, I’m particularly excited to be a part of delivering a much-deserved hospitality experience to this great community and to watch students, alumni, and locals utilize our cafe, communal space, and roof top bar that will boast incredible views of campus.”

The 194 guestrooms will be uniquely designed for Graduate East Lansing, with elements inspired by the local community, university and the state of Michigan history. The expansive lobby will provide an inviting space for guests and locals to socialize, relax and study, while the rooftop bar will offer unmatched views of MSU’s campus. The hotel will include more than 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Its ground floor will feature retail space for lease.
