Memphis, TN (June 29, 2022) – Adam Arencibia, executive chef of the Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis has been appointed to area executive chef, expanding his role to also include the new Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis. Arencibia will oversee all culinary programming at this inaugural Caption by Hyatt hotel, debuting the new select-service lifestyle brand’s signature Talk Shop experience with an all-day lounge eatery and cocktail bar, grab-and-go offerings, and outdoor beer garden. Building upon his recent experience with the Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis, along with his knowledge of the region, chef Arencibia will oversee all facets of the day-to-day operations, overarching food and beverage programs, as well as banquets and catering for both hotels.

Chef Arencibia brings over 15 years of culinary knowledge and experience to his new position of area executive chef. Arencibia took on the role of executive chef at Hyatt Centric Beale Street at the start of 2022 and hit the ground running. Throughout 2022 he not only oversaw the day-to-day operations of the hotel’s CIMAS restaurant and all banquet and catering initiates but also helmed the hotel’s innovative “Bites, Curtain, Action!” theatre-inspired menu with special menu items and cocktails created to reflect the theater show in town that week. Prior to joining the Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis team, Arencibia worked as the executive chef partner of Memphis’ The Capital Grille, where he successfully oversaw and executed the restaurants participation in Memphis Food and Wine 2021. Before residing in the ‘Home of the Blues,’ Arencibia hailed from Sin City, Las Vegas, where he worked at some of the city’s most notable hotels and resorts. During his time in Nevada, he grew his portfolio with positions including chef de cuisine at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, banquet sous chef at Aria Resort & Casino, executive chef hearthstone at Clique Hospitality and executive chef park MGM banquets at MGM Resorts International.

“It’s impossible to think of Memphis without thinking of its renowned food culture. I’m honored to be given the opportunity to expand my role and helm the culinary programs at both of these history making hotels,” says Arencibia. “Celebrating local restaurateurs and business is a core theme for Caption by Hyatt, which will be reflected in the menus. We’re very proud to support and collaborate with businesses like Mempops, Raw Girls, Wrapzody and Muddys, and look forward to having travelers and locals hangout in Talk Shop to taste their way through the Home of Blues.”

While Arencibia received his formal culinary training from The Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park, NY, he was enamored by the culinary world at an early age. He credits both his mother and the Easy Bake oven he talked his father into buying him at age four for being the reason he is passionate about food, culinary art, and cooking. Throughout his career, Arencibia worked alongside fine dining greats, including three-star Michelin chef Joel Robuchon, and had the opportunity to cook in the James Beard Foundation’s Taste America event.

“Adam shows a lot of technique and gentle care in every meal he puts out,” explains Sarah Titus, area general manager. “With Talk Shop at Ellis and the beer garden as the heart of Caption by Hyatt, he’s got what it takes to make this a showstopper.”

Caption by Hyatt Beale Street and its respective dining outlets are set to debut late June 2022.
