Hotel Online Special Report Marriott International Standardizes on Forte for Integration, Custom Development and Internet Enablement OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 26, 1999 – Forte Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FRTE) today announced that Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) has selected the full Forte(R) product line as its standard platform for integrating with existing application packages, extending them and creating new custom and Web-enabled applications. The agreement encompasses the Forte Application Environment(TM), Forte Conductor(TM), the Forte Application Server(TM) for OS/390(R), Forte WebEnterprise(TM) and Forte Express(TM) for use in Marriott’s operations throughout the world.
The Forte products were selected after an extensive evaluation, which included the development of two pilot projects. The second and pivotal pilot includes a graphical front-end and a reusable middle tier that accesses Marriott’s business-critical TPF-based mainframe reservation system.
“The cornerstone of Marriott’s business is customer service, and our ability to quickly respond to changing business needs is critical in maintaining our competitive edge,” said Michael Dalton, senior vice president, Information Resources, Marriott International. Marriott selected Forte based on its infrastructure strength, scalability, reliability and cross-platform flexibility. “We expect to reduce the complexity and time-to-market for new application component development and integration with our mainframe, distributed systems and enterprise software packages,” said Dalton.
“This is a significant win for Forte and we are proud to be selected by Marriott, a clear hospitality market leader,” said Marty Sprinzen, president and CEO of Forte Software. “This agreement underscores the market potential of our OS/390 product, and validates Forte’s strength when organizations require a unified architecture for development and integration.”
