The Whitney-A Wyndham Historic Hotel Opens after $10 million Renovation to the 110-year old Whitney Bank Building;
Joseph Schwingler Appointed GM

Dallas (Sept. 14, 2000) -- Wyndham International, Inc. (NYSE:WYN) and Whitney Hotel Limited Partnership announced today the opening of The Whitney-A Wyndham Historic Hotel in New Orleans.  The 93-room hotel is Wyndhams fourth branded property in the Crescent City.

The Whitney hotel was created as a result of a $10 million renovation to the 110-year old Whitney Bank building which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The distinctive Beaux Arts architecture combines the elegance of an intimate hotel with the practicality of a central business district location.
The buildings original 30-foot ornate ceilings and mosaic floors have been combined with modern-day furniture to reflect the charm and eclectic style of New Orleans.

As we continue to expand our core brand, we look for hotels that communicate the essence of the Wyndham brand, said Fred J. Kleisner, president and chief executive officer of Wyndham International.  New Orleans is a city that attracts both leisure and business travelers, and we feel The Whitney will successfully meet the needs of both these markets.

The buildings first floor will hold the hotels public areas, including the bell and guest service desks, restaurant, lobby and lobby library along with an original bank vault that has been transformed into a private dining area for ten.  The Poydras branch of the Whitney Bank will continue its operations in the building and occupy one-third of the ground floor.

The Whitney building has been a part of New Orleans since 1890 and we are excited to have had the opportunity to continue the preservation of its architecture by providing the city with a hotel embedded in local history, said Lenny Wormser, owner and developer of The Whitney-A Wyndham Historic Hotel.

In an effort to maintain the buildings history, restoration of several items such as the ground floor bank vault, iron gates, and an original brass chandelier have been integrated into the hotels architecture.

Originally designed as an office building, The Whitney hotel features a variety of floor plans within its 93 rooms, ranging from a cozy corner room to a luxurious suite.  The hotel also offers patrons full-service meeting facilities for corporate meetings and social events.

The hotels signature restaurant, 56°, led by executive chef Ming Bui will feature a modern Creole-Asian cuisine.  The 80-seat restaurant named after the optimal temperature at which wine is stored, will feature a wine-driven menu by suggesting to guests the ideal companion wines for each entrée.

The Whitney complements our present hotels in the area by offering guests all the accommodations and amenities of a large hotel within an intimate environment, said Ted Teng, chief operating officer of Wyndham International.

Wyndham has appointed Joseph Schwingler as general manager of The Whitney, located in New Orleans at 610 Poydras Street.  The hotel is owned by the Whitney Hotel Limited Partnership and managed by Wyndham Management Corporation, a subsidiary of Wyndham International.

The Whitney joins three other prestigious Wyndham properties in New Orleans including: the 437-room Wyndham New Orleans at Canal Place; the 216-room Bourbon Orleans-A Wyndham Historic Hotel; and, the 202-room Wyndham Riverfront.

The Wyndham brand is owned and managed by Wyndham International, Inc.
(NYSE: WYN).  Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is an upscale, full-service hotel chain with products located in urban, suburban and select resort markets and tailored to best serve its core customers, which include business and leisure travelers.
