AUSTIN, TEXAS (May 24, 1999). The Travis Restaurant &
Bar at Lakeway Inn, an award-winning conference resort and leisure destination,
has completed its expansion and renovation. Offering sweeping views of
beautiful Lake Travis, the restaurant, via its menu and design, celebrates
the rich landscape and products of the Texas Hill Country. Its fare, dubbed
New Hill Country Cuisine by Chef Chris Tomboni, features indigenous products
like Black Angus beef and Gulf shrimp and accents them with flavorful native
peppers, tamarind, cumin, cilantro and rich mangoes from Central Texas.
Tomboni was the former Executive Sous Chef of the five-star French Room
at The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas and worked under renowned Master Chef Jean
Banchet.
The
renovation of the Travis Restaurant & Bar, part of a $20-million, year-long
expansion and renovation of Lakeway Inn, was completed last month by Dallas-based
interior designer Deborah Lloyd Forrest and Antonio Flamenco, AIA of EDI
Architecture, Inc. in association with Kendall/Heaton Associates of Houston.
Rich woods and whimsical fabrics in hues of gold, green and burgundy celebrate
the flora and fauna of the region while floor-to-ceiling windows, and a
new terrace patio with dining al fresco, offer captivating views of Lake
Travis. A 50-seat private dining room with separate, open terrace lies
adjacent to the restaurant and is ideal for small wedding receptions and
cocktail parties. The Bar area, offering a lighter pub menu, is outfitted
with two new pool tables, big screen television and the National Trivia
Network.
Says Toby June, Lakeway Inn General Manager, The completion of the
Travis Restaurant & Bar is a major milestone in our year-long expansion
project and our team is very excited for the opening of the new building
this September.
The $20-million project will grow Lakeway Inn to 240 guest rooms and
over 20,000 square feet of meeting space, most of which is located in the
new building overlooking Lake Travis. A new fitness center and second resort
pool complex are also being added and will augment the propertys existing
full-service marina and access to the World of Tennis. The propertys 69
peninsula guest rooms have already been completely refurbished.
Lakeway Inn is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country just 20
minutes from downtown Austin and within 45 minutes of the new Austin-Bergstrom
International Airport. The award-winning conference resort is managed by
Dolce International, the global leader in learning through meetings and
leisure. |
