Lodging Industry Investment Council (LIIC) 
Launched by Hotel Industry Leaders 
Chicago, IL., April 14, 1998 -- Representatives of the U.S. lodging industry today announced the formation of The Lodging Industry Investment Council to serve as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas related to lodging development, finance and investment. The Council is composed of 42 executives from the industryís leading financiers, investors, owners, operators and consultants. 

"The lodging industry needs a reliable, objective source of information and candid views concerning critical issues facing the industry," said Francis J. Nardozza, chairman of the newly formed group and National Hospitality Industry Director for KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP. "The Lodging Industry Investment Council will address significant industry issues such as the threat of overbuilding, shifts in property values, REITs, market research and investment analysis techniques, future availability of capital, and consolidation." 

The five objectives of The Lodging Industry Investment Council are:

  • Operate for the benefit of the lodging industry and the real estate, financial and investment communities by serving as an informed and objective resource for information and education pertinent to development, finance and investment.
  • Initiate and facilitate relevant research on evolving issues.
  • Disseminate relevant and topical information to the industry and the media.
  • Serve as an informational network for Council members.
  • Support the efforts of the American Hotel & Motel Association as well as other industry trade groups, universities and industry trade publications on matters of relevance to hotel finance, development and investment.
"We plan to bring to the forefront the weighty issues companies are facing today, and to present the kind of information and education that will impact critical decisions about hotel property investments," said Sean Hennessy, vice chairman of the council and vice president of Hotel Partners.
