Hotel Industry's First Internet-Based
Sales and Catering Automation System
Introduced by Daylight Software
--
Hotels Gain Added New Business, Competitive Edge,
Business Analysis Tools, and Global Communications

DOVER, N.H., April 26, 1999 -  Daylight Software, Inc. introduced today a powerful new Windows-based sales and catering system that promises to change the way the hotel industry looks at sales automation. The new system allows sales managers in properties, regional offices, and corporate headquarters to view their business more strategically, make smarter decisions based on real-time information, and provide customers with better service.

"Our objective has been to develop, from the bottom up, a totally new system for the hotel industry by automating the entire enterprise, using integrated communications over the Internet to link individual hotels, clusters, regional offices, and corporate headquarter locations," said Bill Duncan, president and CEO of Daylight Software, Inc. "With Daylight enterprise we met this objective."

Daylight enterprise offers a full range of sales and catering management functionality, including comprehensive account/contact management, guestroom and function room management, event management and full reporting capabilities. It improves sales efficiency by putting all the information sales managers need right at their fingertips. It's simple enough to use in a small hotel, but powerful enough for today's large hotels. The result is a true enterprise solution that is multi-database compatible, allowing for the use of whatever large or small databases a hotel already uses, including Microsoft SQL Server(R), Microsoft Access(R), and Oracle(R).

Dave Thurman, vice president of sales and marketing at Daylight Software, said, "One of the most powerful product advantages of enterprise is that it supports hotel clusters, so the sales team can more effectively sell in a multi-property environment. It lets sales people view information by individual hotel or the cluster as a whole, making multi-venue scheduling easy. In addition, powerful desktop reporting tools make it easy to get information presented in exactly the format the user wants."

The list of Daylight enterprise firsts is impressive. It is the first hotel sales and catering automation system to fully embrace the Internet. It is the first system to provide integrated global communications from within the application. It is the first system to communicate directly with the customer -- via Ajenis, the meeting planner automation system published by PlanSoft Corporation and developed by Daylight.

According to Duncan, users already familiar with the Internet -- whether at home or in the office -- will feel comfortable with Daylight enterprise's look and feel. In fact, he says, "the software is so intuitive that even new users can simply install from the CD and, within minutes, start communicating over the Internet to remote sales managers, central databases containing hotel and customer information, and within the hotels themselves." Automated tools make migration from competitive systems easy.

Founded in 1994 by Bill Duncan, Daylight Software, Inc. is a privately held, independent software developer and marketer of database management and communications applications software for the hotel and hospitality industry. As a recipient of the Microsoft(R) Retail Application Developer Award, Daylight Software is a recognized leader in developing applications for Microsoft Windows(R) that automate sales, catering, and marketing functions for the hospitality industry.
