Hotel and Castle Vaalsbroek in the Netherlands Acquired by Dolce International
Leading Company in Conference Center Industry Expands into Northern Europe

VAALS, THE NETHERLANDS (March 2, 1999). Hotel and Castle Vaalsbroek, owned by the FSI Group (DSM branch) since 1974, has just been acquired as of March 1, 1999 by American-based Dolce International and its investment partner, AEW Capital Management.  Along with the acquisition, Dolce International will invest $10 million in a major expansion which will begin this spring.

Eighty more guest rooms will be added, bringing the total to 130 rooms.  Two new conference rooms and an indoor pool and fitness complex will also be added.  Vaalsbroek recently completed a renovation of the 50 existing guest rooms, added a new lobby lounge, and expanded its a-la-carte restaurant.

Andrew Dolce, Chairman and CEO of Dolce International, says the acquisition of Vaalsbroek is an important step in executing the companys strategic plan.  We are developing the conference center concept in Europe and providing our multinational, Fortune 1000 customers with a first class conference hotel in the Euro Center region is part of this strategy.  Now with Vaalsbroek we are executing this important part of our plan.

According to Jan Janssen, General Manager of Vaalsbroek, the property is currently facing its millennium challenge. Expanding and optimizing our facilities has been a long-cherished dream that is about to be fulfilled.  An extensive study done a few years ago showed that Vaalsbroek needed an expansion and enhancement of its existing facilities in order to compete in the marketplace.  The quality of the estate and its highly motivated staff have provided a high level of service to our customers for years.  The changing requirements of our guests taught us to constantly expand our level of services.  The acquisition by Dolce International brings us both the capital to expand and a global sales and marketing network that will allow us to realize our dreams for Vaalsbroeks future.

What we bring to Vaalsbroek, continues Dolce, is our customer base which we believe will enjoy bringing their corporate meetings to this region.  These are customers who use Dolce properties at our other locations and who are accustomed to highly specialized and technologically advanced meeting experiences.  At the same time we have every intention of continuing the outstanding quality of service and hospitality traditions at Vaalsbroek that have made it so successful with its current customers and the community.

The other two locations in Europe are in France: Hôtel du Domaine de Chantilly in the Paris region and Frégate, a conference hotel and golf resort in Provence overlooking the Mediterranean.  Both of these properties are owned by Dolce International and are also undergoing major expansions.

In North America, Dolce International has properties in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Chicago, Texas, the Pacific Northwest, and in Canada. For further information please contact Jennifer H. McDonough, Dolce International Director of Public Relations, at (201) 505-5909.
