Lexington Services to Transfer Hotel Reservations Contracts from TeleService Resources

DALLAS, March 9, 1999 Lexington Services, a subsidiary of The Travel Company (NASDAQ: TRVL), the largest provider of global hotel reservations in the nation and second largest in the world , today announced that the company has reached an agreement with TeleService Resources (TSR) to be the hotel service provider of choice as TSR transitions out of the hospitality technology business.  Under the agreement, Lexington Services will provide Global Distribution System connectivity, call center and Internet reservation services for former hotel clients of TSR, potentially adding 750 hotels to Lexington Services current client base of 2,500 hotels worldwide.

TSR, a call management solutions company based in Fort Worth, Texas, provides comprehensive services to a wide range of airlines and Fortune 500 companies.  TSR, a former subsidiary of AMR Corporation, was acquired by Platinum Equity Holdings earlier this year.  The company has recently undertaken an evaluation of its hospitality line of business and the technology required to support it, resulting in a decision to discontinue providing hospitality reservation technology, enabling TSR to focus more on its core competencies.

According to Zolon Wilkins III, chief operating officer of Lexington Services, the agreement indicates TSRs strong confidence in the quality of hotel reservations management and customer service provided by Lexington Services.  Former clients of TeleService Resources will experience a seamless transition during this conversion, while enjoying the enhanced capabilities and product offerings that  Lexington Services provides, he said.

For example, Lexington Services is the only third-party reservations service that provides its members with Internet access to LexLink Online, a revenue management and reporting application.

Wilkins said that the agreement with TeleService Resources may potentially add 19 chains, with 8,000 rooms and $250 million in annual booking revenues, to Lexington Services portfolio of hotel clients. TeleServices Resources employees will be considered for an opportunity to join Lexington Services to handle the business.

Lexington Services has an outstanding track record of success within the hospitality industry, said Paul Skingle, vice president of hospitality for TeleService Resources.  Were very comfortable that our clients will continue to receive excellent service from the first-class operation for which Lexington Services is renowned.

Meanwhile, Skingle said TSR has initiated an aggressive growth strategy focusing on companies in the travel, healthcare, financial services, telecom and consumer products industries.  We have a proven track record in these areas, and we intend to align our resources to fully capitalize on each of these markets, he added.

Lexington Services, a subsidiary of The Travel Company (NASDAQ: TRVL), provides reservation services for more than 2,500 independent hotels, resorts, inns, suites and chains with over 300,000 rooms in 60 countries.  Lexington's central reservations office, located in Irving/Las Colinas, Texas, is connected to all major Global Distribution Systems and the world's leading Internet sites.

Accessible by travel agents under the access code LM in the GDSs, as well as by home and business computers via the Internet (through TravelWeb and Microsoft Expedia), Lexington's proprietary in-house reservations system was designed, developed and is maintained by Lexington Services.  Lexington has development representatives located in Dallas, Dubai, Geneva, Iceland, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Rome and Sydney.  More information about Lexington Services is available at www.lexres.com.
