Outrigger to Purchase the Former
Maui Inter-Continental Resort -
Property to be renamed Outrigger Wailea Resort

HONOLULU, HAWAII -  January 9, 1999 - Outrigger Enterprises, Inc. announced it has entered into an agreement to purchase the former Maui Inter-Continental Resort from its owner Ml Hotel Limited Partnership. The oceanfront resort will be renamed the Outrigger Wailea Resort. Outrigger previously announced an agreement to manage the property effective February 1,1999.

"Purchasing this major Maui resort is a great addition for us," said David Carey, president and chief executive officer of Outrigger Enterprises. "We continue to be optimistic on the future of Hawaii's visitor industry and this acquisition furthers our goal to operate full-service, beachfront hotels on Hawaii's major islands. The Outrigger Wailea Resort will join the Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Big Island (formerly the Royal Waikoloan), the Outrigger Waikiki and Outrigger Reef hotels on Oahu and the Outrigger Kauai Beach in our portfolio of premier, beachfront hotels in Hawaii."

"The Outrigger Wailea Resort enjoys a prime location on the island of Maui and its many dedicated employees have earned it an outstanding reputation for hospitality and service. We are looking forward to working with the staff, the Wailea destination and the people of Maui to make a positive contribution to the visitor experience and to the hospitality industry," Carey added.

Situated on 22 acres of beautifully landscaped, oceanfront land located in the upscale Wailea Resort, the Outrigger Wailea Resort features three swimming pools, extensive food & beverage service, and a state of the art conference facility featuring 29 separate meeting rooms totaling over 45,000 square feet of meeting space. The ballroom accommodates up to 1500 people for meetings and up to 1100 for sit down meal functions. In a class by itself, when the ballroom's entire wall of drapes facing the ocean is fully drawn, unparalleled views of the Pacific Ocean are presented.

The extensive landscaped grounds, warm Hawaiian hospitality and predominantly low-rise building design create a relaxed and intimate feeling that brings many guests back year after year to the 516-room Outrigger Wailea Resort. Typical guest accommodations at the Outrigger Wailea Resort are spacious, well-appointed and feature a private lanai. Outrigger plans to complete substantial improvements in response to customer needs in the corporate meetings, incentive and family travel markets from North America, Europe and Japan, Carey said.
