�We have an aggressive franchise growth plan in place, and our 1998 results are proof of that plan.  1998 was an impressive year, but 1999 will be even better as we open 50 new franchised properties,� stated Butch Cash, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Red Roof Inns. 

Ten of the 34 franchised Inns opened last year are owned by Campbell Motel Properties, Inc.  These properties expand the Red Roof Inns brand into the western part of the United States, with locations in California, Texas and Arizona.

In Kissimmee, Fla., the Red Roof Inn - Resort at Maingate opened at the entrance to Disney World. With 442 rooms, it is the largest Red Roof Inn to date.  Inns also opened in Pensacola and Palm Harbor, Fla.

Other franchised Inns were opened in Oklahoma City, Okla., Holton, Ks., Montgomery, Ind.; Atlanta (Airport), Ga.; Bedford Heights, Youngstown, Zanesville, and Mason, Ohio; Flagstaff, and Tempe, Ariz.; Clarksville, and Chattanooga, Tenn.; Elizabethtown, and London, Ky.  Red Roof Inn and Suites were opened in Suwanne and Brunswick, Ga. 

In addition to franchised Inns, seven new corporate-owned properties opened last year.  These Inns are located in Gainesville, Fla.; Raleigh and Rocky Mount, N.C.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Austin, Texas; Macon, Ga.; and Rockville, Md.
