GM, Tom Vincent Details San Diego Paradise Point
Sweeping Renovation Program
San Diego, CA - December 15, 1998 -- San Diego Paradise Point Resort, originally known as Vacation Village and most recently San Diego Princess, has embarked on a multi-million dollar renovation of its sprawling 44-acre property.

With new owners, a new management company, a new name, and a new Bird of Paradise logo, the resort will undergo extensive remodeling of its 462 cottage-style guest rooms and suites, meeting facilities, landscaping, pools, restaurants and lobby. Proposed future improvements also include a first class spa and fitness center.  Construction work will be done in several phases over the next few years to minimize disturbance to resort guests.

The first phase, consisting of 200 guest rooms, is already underway and scheduled for completion by mid-April of 1999.  The second phase of room renovation will begin next September and be ready for occupancy by spring of the year 2000.  Two model rooms now showcase the bold, charming, casual elegance of the very upscale new interior design in store for all the sleeping rooms.  New rooms reflect cheerful color schemes and comfortable furniture with imported marble in the completely remodeled luxurious bathrooms.  The new design and concept resembles a lavish high-end California beach home.

The enhancement of Paradise Point will be truly marvelous and the ultimate result will be one of the most distinctive and luxurious resort destinations in California, anticipates General Manager, Tom Vincent.  Were convinced that both our group and leisure clientele will be as delighted as we are with the changes.  Now that this exciting project is actually underway, one of our main objectives will be to ensure minimum inconvenience to the thousands of guests who visit our resort year round.

Due to the expansive size of the resort with 129 buildings representing separate cottages spread over the 44-acres and a mile of beachfront, much of the work will be invisible to the resorts guests through careful planning and phasing.

La Salle Hotel Properties of Washington, DC, purchased the popular San Diego resort on June 1, 1998, from a U. S. division of Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company of London.   La Salle Hotel Properties is a leading multi-tenant, multi-operator real estate investment trust which owns 11 upscale and luxury full-service hotels, totaling 3,841 guest rooms in eight states.  LaSalle Hotel Properties is focused on acquiring upscale and luxury full-service hotels located primarily in major business and urban, resort and convention markets.  For a comprehensive preview of LaSalle Hotel Properties and information, visit their website at: www.lasallehotels.com

Noble House Resorts & Hotels, the new management company which is also directing the renovation project, owns and/or operates 11 other distinctive hotels and resorts throughout the United States including the Hotel Adolphus in Dallas, which holds a 5 Diamond rating from AAA; the Sunburst Resort in Scottsdale; and the La Playa Beach Resort in Naples, Florida.

Most of the resorts senior management has stayed on through the ownership transition including General Manager, Tom Vincent; Hotel Manager, Steve Gaspari; and Director of Marketing, John Davies.  Vincent also has regional responsibility for the Arizona Sunburst.

In recent years, the resorts strong focus on guest service has been recognized with prestigious awards from the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau and Meetings & Conventions magazine. The new name and logo of Paradise Point Resort appropriately reflect its lush, tropical grounds that adorn the westernmost side of Vacation Isle in Mission Bay, the largest aquatic park of its kind in the United States, home as well to Sea World Adventure Park.  For more information, please call 619-274-4630 or visit the resorts interactive website at: www.paradisepoint.com.
