With Mirage Resorts

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 13, 1999 -  Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) today unveiled "The Borgata(TM)" as the name and concept for a major new casino resort on the H-Tract in the Marina district of Atlantic City.  The Borgata(TM), which is Italian for "village," will convey an inviting warmth and comfort associated with the timeless tradition and feel of Tuscany, Italy and Southern Europe.

The Borgata(TM) will be a $750 million entertainment resort complex with 1,500 guest rooms and suites, 120,000 square-feet of gaming space and a variety of other first-class resort and guest amenities.  The Borgata(TM) will adjoin Mirage's planned resort complex on the H-Tract.  Groundbreaking for The Borgata(TM) is scheduled for fall 1999, with an opening slated for mid-2002.

The Borgata(TM) will add another dimension to the Atlantic City experience combining a high-energy, contemporary feel with European styling.  The Borgata(TM) will feature eight restaurants, multiple retail outlets, a European health spa, a performing arts theater and a nightclub to appeal to an active and diverse customer base.  The casino will have 120 table games and 3,000 slot machines.
