PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic - Oct. 8, 1998 -- The 540-suite
Melia Tropical All-Inclusive Beach Resort on Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana,
Dominican Republic, is on schedule for an end-of-the-year opening.
The Melia Tropical will feature contemporary Caribbean design suites, five restaurants, three bars, nightly shows, the largest lagoon-style swimming pool in the Caribbean, a mini-club for children ages 4-11, daily activities program, fitness center, club house, fun pub, watersports center, casino and a 27-hole championship golf course to open in 1999. Together the three properties form the most luxurious resort complex in the Caribbean, located in preserved ecological settings just 20 minutes from the Punta Cana International Airport and 90 minutes from the La Romana Airport. "Collectively, we will have 19 restaurants, 20 bars and three surrounding golf courses." Sol Melia is one of the world's most successful international hotel
