Aston's Waikiki Coral Reef Hotel Completes
$280,000 Lobby Renovation
Honolulu, HI, December, 1998 - The ASTON Hotels & Resorts managed Coral Reef Hotel in Waikiki has just completed a $280,000 lobby renovation.

A new 180 - gallon coral reef fish tank now serves as the focal point for the hotel's lobby entry. In reflecting the name, the lobby is also accented by references to coral reefs with fabrics including tropical fish designs.

Adams Design, based in Honolulu implemented an "arts - and - crafts" styling, made popular in California in the 1920s by architects "Greene and Greene" and cabinet maker Gustav Stickley. "The architects at the time were fascinated by Japanese Design, tropical texture and oriental balance," said Jack Adams, owner and designer of Adams Design. "Hawaii and the lobby of the Coral Reef Hotel prove to be a perfect setting for this ambiance."
