Edward Mace Appointed President and CEO 
of Fairmont Hotels

SAN FRANCISCO- June 30, 1998 - Lew Wolff, Chairman of the Fairmont Hotel Management, L.P. today announced the appointment of Edward Mace as President and CEO of Fairmont Hotel Management, L.P., effective September 1. Mace previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Fairmont, overseeing all key management functions for Fairmont's seven luxury hotels
.
"Ed's contributions to Fairmont since joining the company in 1996 have been extraordinary, and I have the greatest confidence in his leadership, his extensive knowledge of our industry, and his unwavering devotion to the Fairmont brand," said Mr. Wolff. "His skill and commitment will help us meet our expansion goals and build our reputation in the luxury category."

Before joining Fairmont, Mace served as Principal and Regional Director for the Real Estate and Hotel Industry division at KPMG Peat Marwick. Prior to this position, Mr. Mace was President and Managing Partner for the Lincoln Property Company of Europe, where he was directly responsible for establishing Lincoln's investment and development program in Europe. From 1994 to 1998, he was President and CEO of Lincoln Hotels, an independent luxury hotel company based in Dallas. Mr. Mace is a graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science from Cornell's School of Administration. He and his family reside in San Francisco.
