San Francisco - with a 15% rise in overall international visitation - emerged as the fourth most popular destination behind New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
San Francisco was the only destination among the top five to show an increase in market share. The City has a 13% share of the country's overseas visitor market, behind Miami with 14%, Los Angeles with 16% and New York City with 20%.
The 1997 update will be released this summer. It is expected that any increases over 1996 will not be nearly as dramatic. It is also predicted, with the Asian economic difficulties, that we may see drops in visitations from many Southeast Asian countries.
