Beginning in January, visitors to Inter-Continental's web site at www.interconti.com can bid on a stay at one of twenty locations, which will change approximately every two months. Bidding will start at $50, and Inter-Continental will donate all proceeds directly to UNICEF.
The highest bidder for each Inter-Continental weekend package will receive a spacious single or double guest room for one night, (additional nights can be purchased at the standard Weekend Options rate) including all taxes and service charges, plus mileage awards with one of the hotel chain's participating airline partners. In addition, the package features a choice of one of the following value-added Options:
· Upgrade to a Club Inter-Continental
Floor or junior suite;
· Additional guest room at half-price;
· Full American breakfast for two people
daily, or
· Double bonus miles with participating
airlines.
To participate, bidders must register their e-mail address and secure credit card information on Inter-Continental's web site. They then raise the current bid by incremental amounts, and are automatically notified by e-mail of a higher bid, which they may choose to raise. The highest bidder at the end of the first two-month auction period, which ends on March 1, 1998, will receive the one night weekend stay, valid for up to 12 months. Accommodations are subject to availability and are valid for Friday, Saturday or Sunday only. Credit card details are not used unless the bid is successful and all information is confidential and secure.
The first group of hotels available for on-line auction include the Hotel Inter-Continental New York, Hotel Inter-Continental Miami, Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental San Francisco, Hotel Inter-Continental Paris and the Hotel Inter-Continental Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
