San Diego's CVB Is First to Implement Internet Reservations through WorldRes

SAN MATEO, CA, September 8, 1997 - The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) today announced it has become the first CVB to offer online booking capability to its member properties and that its reservations will be made through the WorldRes system.

The 300 member properties of the San Diego CVB that appear on its Web site (www.sandiego.org), can opt to be bookable through WorldRes starting November, 1997.

WorldRes, Inc.(TM), the developer and operator of a leading Internet-based reservation system that brings advanced sales and marketing capability to hotels on the World Wide Web, will be working with the San Diego CVB to provide low-cost booking capability to all hotels, including properties not currently represented on travel agent reservation systems. WorldRes will also return a portion of the transaction fees generated through the Web site back to the organization to be used for various marketing programs.

"This partnership gives member hotels the ability to not only be listed on the San Diego CVB Web site, but also to generate additional revenue through online bookings. WorldRes is the best way for our properties to take online reservations," said Reint Reinders, president of the San Diego CVB.

"This agreement with the CVB of San Diego proves that WorldRes' technology is the best solution for CVBs to market and sell their properties online," said Scott Potter, vice president of business development for WorldRes. "This deal is only the first stage in solidifying relationships with other convention centers and bureaus." Participating properties will also receive a free bookable listing on Places To Stay(TM), (www.placestostay.com), WorldRes' own hotel reservation Web site, and free marketing via e-mail to WorldRes' database of customers.
