HONOLULU (July 2, 1997,) Aston Hotels & Resorts, Hawaii's largest hotel and condominium resort operator, has promoted Cathy Gleason to the position of sales manager-national sales.

Her responsibilities include: coordinating trade shows, seminars, fam tours and site inspections; developing promotional themes; evaluating Aston's participation and commitment to promotional opportunities; and serving as a liaison with clients.

Gleason joined the Aston ohana (family) in 1995, holding the position of sales manager-Waikiki. She was responsible for overseeing Aston Waikiki Sunset, Aston Park Shore and Aston at the Waikiki Banyan.

Born in Hawaii, Gleason spent much of her youth in California and attended college in San Francisco. After six years with a San Francisco travel agency, Gleason was recruited by Aloha Airlines as a sales representative. One year later, she was promoted to sales coordinator responsible for 20 sales offices in North America and Europe.

Gleason returned to Hawaii in 1992 and served as sales coordinator at the Executive Centre Hotel, soon expanding her duties to include promotion and marketing of downtown Honolulu's only hotel.

Based in Honolulu, Aston Hotels & Resorts plans to open six new hotels and resorts under the Aston name in Australia, Bali, Guam and the Philippines within the next 12 months.
