Red Lion Hotels to Expand into Arizona through the Conversion of the
Current Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix/Tempe-ASU

The 162-room Property will Convert by the End of May 2013

SPOKANE, Wash., April 30, 2013
– Red Lion Hotels Corporation (NYSE: RLH) today announced the company is expanding its system into Arizona with the signing of a new franchise agreement with the owners of a hotel in Tempe, located in the greater Phoenix area.

“We had identified Phoenix as a key market for expansion to meet the travel needs of our customers,” said Ron Burgett, Executive Vice President of Lodging and Brand Development for Red Lion Hotels Corporation. “This property is well located in Tempe near Arizona State University, which appeals to both our sports and our leisure guests.”

The Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix/Tempe-ASU, located at 1429 N. Scottsdale Rd., is scheduled to convert to a Red Lion Inn & Suites by the end of May. The 162-room limited service hotel is just one mile from Arizona State University and one of the top attractions in the Phoenix area, the Mill Avenue District in downtown Tempe with dining, shopping, entertainment and events. Old Town Scottsdale is nearby, as is Phoenix International Airport.  The property has two outdoor swimming pools, a 15-person whirlpool with a rock waterfall, plus a tennis court and a putting green. Guests will receive free internet access and a free hot breakfast served daily.

“We considered several hotel brands before selecting Red Lion,” said Bill Spresser of VRE Holdings LLC, owners of the hotel.  “We selected Red Lion for the level of service they are offering.”
