Final Phase of $90 million, 10-Year Transformation Begins for
the 1,499-key San Francisco Marriott Marquis in California

San Francisco, C.A. (March 6, 2013)
—  The San Francisco Marriott Marquis is set to complete the final phase of its $90 million, 10-year transformation, it was announced today by Frank Manchen, Director of Sales & Marketing.

The hotel has been completely transformed and modernized with the most recent projects encompassing the lobby, meeting space, fitness center, Bin 55 Restaurant and Wine Bar, Mission Grill, Starbucks Cafe, and second floor atrium.  Specific changes to the function space include raising the ceiling in the Golden Gate Ballroom, remodeling the second-floor Atrium to create contiguous event space, and adding 10 breakouts.

According to Mr. Manchen, "The final phase of the $90 million refurbishment project includes the complete renovation of all 1,499 rooms and suites.  Everything is going to be replaced by a fabulous new look that better reflects the modern elegance of our great city and incredible service we are known for around the world."  Mr. Manchen notes that every guest room in the hotel will undergo renovations that will include new wallpaper, carpet, drapery, lighting fixtures, and seating elements.  The rooms will be updated to include new Internet cabling as well as brightening of the guestroom corridors.  The project will enhance the overall quality of the guest experience and will be completed by June or July.

Rising 39 stories high in the San Francisco skyline, the transformed San Francisco Marriott Marquis exudes an essence of modern luxury with a convenient and extraordinary downtown location. Just south of Market Street, the hotel's renovation embodies the transformation of the neighborhood it calls home.  The hotel is situated conveniently next to the Moscone Convention Center and just steps away from Yerba Buena Gardens, renowned museums and cultural attractions, world-class shopping in Union Square, and AT&T Park — home of the San Francisco Giants.

The San Francisco Marriott Marquis features 1,362 rooms and 137 suites appointed with Marriott's signature bedding with plush crisp linens, 32-inch LCD high definition TVs with a plug-in panel, high-speed Internet, and work desks.  Hotel facilities include the Fitness Center & Spa, an indoor pool and whirlpool, and five restaurants and bars including Mission Grille and The View.  The property features 117,000 square feet of meeting space and 59 meeting rooms, the largest of which is the Yerba Ballroom with a total meeting space of 39,621 square feet and a seating capacity of 5,500.
