Silver Spring, MD, January 7, 2013 – Sunburst Hospitality today announced a transition of leadership.  CEO Kevin Hanley is stepping down and will be succeeded by Pamela Williams, the Company’s current Executive Vice President and Chief Counsel.  Ms. Williams has been with the organization since 1995 and has been a key member of the senior management team with current oversight of all legal, human resource, risk management and finance related activities.

Mr. Charles Ledsinger, Chairman, offered, “We are pleased to have an executive with Pam’s talents to lead the team.  Pam has played an integral role in the Company’s past success .We look forward to her applying her diverse skills and experience to the CEO role as we explore new directions for the Company.”

Mr. Hanley joined the organization in 1994 and served as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer since 2000 before becoming CEO in 2007.  Mr. Hanley was an equity participant and integral management member in the 2001 recapitalization and tender offer which took the Company private after its 1997 NYSE spin-off from former parent Choice Hotels International.  The Company has owned and operated more than 100 hotels in 26 states over the past fifteen years.  Following a strategic plan reflecting the cyclical nature of the hotel industry, the Company today has seventeen hotels in its core portfolio.

Mr. Hanley will continue a relationship with the Company by providing strategic consulting services through his newly established Hanley Lodging Advisors company.  Mr. Hanley was recently elected Vice Chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Education Foundation (AH&LEF) and is an active member of the University of New Hampshire’s International Hospitality Advisory Board.
