SAN FRANCISCO (January 29, 2012) – Hotel Vitale, a Joie de Vivre property, is pleased to announce the appointment of Debra Townes as spa director at San Francisco’s only luxury waterfront hotel. A wellness aficionado, Townes has over fifteen years of experience operating her own holistic day spa in Brooklyn, New York. Townes has relocated to San Francisco to develop and oversee the spa’s offerings, and to further establish a memorable spa experience for each hotel and spa guest. “Because of our superior amenities and Spa Vitale’s fabulous penthouse setting, Hotel Vitale is already a favorite spot for travelers looking for a special way to relax and unwind,” said Melony Williams, general manager of Hotel Vitale. “We believe Debra’s creativity and passion for healing will contribute immensely to our guests’ experience, and make it unforgettable.” As a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC, Townes possesses a deep understanding of the healing arts and thrives on positively influencing the lymphatic and emotional condition of others. Using her innovative vision and industry expertise, Townes will develop the spa menu by incorporating as much of the hotel’s attributes, and those of the surrounding environment, into the Spa Vitale experience. To start, the spa menu will soon include soothing lavender, the hotel’s signature scent; and therapeutic seaweed, which is indicative of the hotel’s waterfront location and known for its healing properties. Townes’ objective is to integrate more wellness activities by utilizing the hotel’s acclaimed on-site restaurant, Americano, as well as revitalizing the existing spa menu. Before joining the spa trade, Townes attended Boston University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English. She also attended Columbia University before opening her own spa. Hotel Vitale in San Francisco offers waterfront views that include iconic San Francisco landmarks such as The Ferry Building, the Bay Bridge, Treasure Island, and Alcatraz. These vistas can be taken in from Hotel Vitale’s unique outdoor terrace event spaces and from the Americano patio on the hotel’s lobby level. Hotel Vitale offers many indulgences and amenities with a “luxury, naturally” experience for every guest. The popular penthouse-level Spa Vitale provides therapeutic massage and facial treatments, and Americano Restaurant, under the direction of Executive Chef Kory Stewart, serves hand-crafted, Italian cuisine. Hotel Vitale is located at 8 Mission Street at the corner of Embarcadero in San Francisco.
