Oct. 09, 2012--PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Omni Hotels & Resorts has reached an agreement to buy The Westin Providence hotel from The Procaccianti Group, both companies have announced. Omni will acquire the 564-room hotel, along with associated meeting rooms, hotel-run restaurants and related facilities, which is attached to the Rhode Island Convention Center in downtown Providence. But Cranston-based Procaccianti will continue to own The Residences Providence, which includes 103 high-end residences in the second of two towers on the hotel site. The deal -- terms of which the parties declined to disclose -- is expected to close in December. The newly branded hotel is expected to have "Omni" in its name, though no decision has been made on what to call the hotel. ___ (c)2012 The Providence Journal (Providence, R.I.)
