The 86-room JHouse Greenwich Hotel Opens in Greenwich, Connecticut
with
John Sheedy as General Manager

October 2, 2012
- An innovative escape, located in the heart of Greenwich, Connecticut, The JHouse Greenwich hotel is a dream destination for travelers looking to indulge in the highest level of luxury, currently in previews and officially opening September, 2012. In combination with its chic, contemporary décor, this leading boutique hotel offers guests a home away from home, featuring five-star amenities, fine dining, and modern, plush comforts. The JHouse Greenwich’s impeccable attention to detail not only focuses on the luxury and comfort of their guests, but the environment as well.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a uniquely designed lobby, which has a gallery-like feel to it, featuring artwork and a projected video-installation, produced locally by Daniel Canogar. Surrounding the lobby are various seating areas, including the library, which features a glassed-in fireplace, contemporary furnishings and various pieces of art; guests can peruse a book or relish in the décor.

The tri-level, contemporary hotel features a total of 86, technologically advanced bedrooms, certain to accommodate the needs of both business and leisure guests. Each room is equipped with a personal Apple iPad®, as well as complimentary WiFi and Internet access. Added amenities include mirrored 55 inch television in the bedrooms, television imbedded in bathroom mirrors, heated toilet seats, l’Occitane en Provence bathroom amenities, and Frette towels and robes to ensure a luxurious guest experience.

The JHouse Greenwich is a destination in and of itself; offering guests and array of unique spaces with the finest amenities including a 24-hour fitness gym, 3,400 square feet of meeting space and most noteworthy, the hotel’s outdoor, heated pool, which is surrounded by five, television-equipped cabanas, where guests can enjoy food and classic cocktails while lounging poolside.

eleven14 Kitchen stands as the hotel’s premiere, fine-dining restaurant. Under the culinary influence of executive Chef François Kwaku-Dongo, the menu offers a wide selection of seasonal American dishes, featuring fresh ingredients and cuisine, prepared from locally sourced foods. With the goal of transparency in mind, the restaurant’s dishes are uniquely prepared in front of guests using an exposed, wood-fired stove and display pantry. With an in-house patisserie, guests can watch as their breakfast pastries and desserts are artfully prepared. This high-energy, dynamic space affords guests with the option of both indoor and outdoor dining, which can be used throughout much of the year, as it is protected by a clever system of trellises and subterranean heating.  In addition to eleven14 Kitchen, The JHouse Greenwich is home to a spectacular wine vault, where guests can partake in a tasting, or enjoy a selection of wines by the bottle or glass.

In addition to eleven14 Kitchen’s culinary masterpieces, located just inside The JHouse Greenwich lobby, guests can enjoy the Chocolate Lab which features house made chocolates, gelato, sorbet and ice cream, and fair trade coffee. Chocolate is sourced and produced in Ghana, West Africa, and is fair trade. From seed to cup, transparence distribution and traceability improve the quality of coffee. Coffee is hand crafted and directly traded with farms in Latin American and Africa.  Guest can enjoy a cup-o-joe made to order and or get their caffeine fix on the go.

The JHouse Greenwich partakes in a number of green initiatives to keep their local Greenwich and global environment growing. Some of the eco-friendly steps include the private dining room and wine vault stone is made from post-consumer waste (a by-product of stone work for other uses), the public area floors are made from bamboo, a fast growing and sustainable product and the dining room floor is made of reclaimed wood, drinking water at The JHouse Greenwich is filtered and bottled on site and the menus are printed on recycled paper and Apple iPad® in guest rooms eliminate need for printed materials and newspapers, therefore reducing waste.

The J House Greenwich is under the watchful eye of General Manger and ‘Guy in Charge’ John Sheedy, a thirty-year hospitality industry veteran who has worked in luxury hotel properties throughout Ireland, Germany and in the United States.  As General Manager of The J House Greenwich and eleven14 Kitchen, Sheedy oversees every aspect of this high concept hotel and restaurant.
