The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa Opens Renovated Guestrooms
as Part of the Third Phase of its $30 Million Renovation

Hilton Head Island, SC (November 26, 2012)
– The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa recently opened the doors to the first 120 of 412 new and fully renovated guestrooms, which showcase the latest Westin elements of well-being from the brand’s signature pillars of wellness. The resort is undergoing the third phase of a $30 million renovation, which includes all guestrooms, meeting spaces, public spaces, entrance, main lobby, restaurants and bars, facilities and grounds improvements.  The first and second phases of the renovation were completed this past spring and summer, including completion of the main resort pool, exterior decking and WestinWorkout® fitness studio.

According to Starwood Hotels and Resorts Area Managing Director, Leo Percopo, "We are thrilled to be raising the bar on luxury accommodations in the southeast and on the Atlantic coast, leading the way in the renaissance of Hilton Head Island, with the renovation of our entire resort and displaying the latest Westin brand innovations throughout the property.”  The interior design firm, Cole, Martinez, Curtis and Associates based in Marina Del Ray, California, incorporated the Westin classic design scheme with a natural, coastal inspired color palette in the new guestrooms. The design scheme and palette will carry through the entire resort, taking inspiration from forms of nature and the ocean. The visual vocabulary is grounded in classicism with furniture profiles that are elegant and refined, featuring rich earth tones and eco-sensitive fabrics, reflecting coastal and Lowcountry regional influences.

The sensory-rich environment of the Westin’s new guestroom offers a respite from the rigors of travel and sets a welcoming tone. All 412 renovated and spacious guestrooms and suites at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa will be outfitted with the world-renowned Westin Heavenly Bed® –  patented pillow-top mattress, which cradles and contours to the body for truly restorative sleep. The luxuriously crafted headboard incorporates LED technology with adjustable reading lights to allow guests to personalize their experience and nightstands with an iPod docking station. Guests will revive in the new Heavenly Bath® enhanced with the brand’s Heavenly Rain Forest Showerhead®, new floor and wall tile and dual vanities, Heavenly Robe® and White Tea Aloe bath amenities. Guest accommodations feature 42” flat screen televisions, new window treatments, new carpet and tile, paint and wallpaper.  The new in-room technology features high-speed internet access and ergonomic desk chairs, lamps, phones and environmentally-friendly climate controls. The new guestroom doors also feature Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) door locks that utilize key cards with a built-in radio frequency electromagnetic field that is programmed and used by placing them in proximity of the door rather than swiping them through a reader.

Many of the latest Westin Hotels & Resorts brand elements of well-being are being introduced for the first time in the southeast at the resort. The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa created a showcase studio that provides a virtual vignette for guests, as well as meeting and event planners to experience a preview of the resort’s amenities to come. These include a new lobby concept featuring a fresh vertical garden which improves indoor air quality and offers guests a breath of fresh air; customized front desk design with check-in pods and concierge pods that allow for personal guest interaction. Thoughtfully designed zones with acoustic screens creating areas where guests can relax together or work privately have been planned throughout the public spaces.  The resort’s conference space will be completely renewed and equipped for Clutter Free Meetings allow attendees a relaxed setting focused on productivity. The restaurants and bars will be enhanced with new venues including an outdoor ocean view bar and the Westin lobby Grab and Go café ingredients. The resort will continue to feature the Westin brand’s signature SuperFoodsRX® menu, which includes nutrient-rich and delicious options to tempt every palate.

The Westin innovative brand programs and instinctive service will transform every aspect of a guest’s stay into a revitalizing experience at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa.  The renovation is scheduled to be completed by spring 2013.
