Nov. 06, 2012--The Hyatt Regency in downtown Tampa filed a notice with the state Monday indicating the possible layoff of 222 workers effective Dec. 31. Hyatt staffers directed calls to Derrick Morrow, general manager of the 521-room hotel at 211 N. Tampa St., who could not be reached late Monday for further details. A spokesman at Hyatt's corporate headquarters in Chicago was also unavailable. At other locations -- including the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Conference Center & Spa in Weston -- Hyatt Hotels Corp. has laid off workers after ending management agreements. But it was unclear if this was a similar situation. ___ (c)2012 the Tampa Bay Times (St. Petersburg, Fla.)
